Police in Scotland are warning residents about a spike in the recent home burglaries--by using models made from Lego blocks.

Officers from Police Scotland's Edinburgh division – which has seen break-ins soar by nearly 40 per cent – posted pictures of the Lego models on their Facebook page as part of a move to raise awareness of crime, reports the Daily Mail.  The posts are part of Operation RAC.

Different scenes were creating using Lego's to show the crime along with rhyming lines giving advice. Some scenes show Lego criminals with their hands up being busted by police for trying to break into a home.

A Police Scotland spokesman says, "Social media is an important tool for communicating with the public and allows us to provide vital information on crime prevention and advice on keeping safe."

Not everyone thinks it's cute though: Some victims saw the campaign as "insensitive" and "a joke."

The series has been posted on the EdinburghPolice Twitter account.
