Six young men and a 16-year-old girl face charges after alleged gang activity led to gunshots in Conyers, police said.

An eighth suspect, Marvin Crutchfield, 18, was being sought by police Friday for the Sept. 17 incident on Pinedale Circle, Conyers police spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Lucas told AJC.com.

Around 9:20 p.m., police received calls about a group fight that led to people shooting guns at each other on the residential street, Lucas said.

The group dispersed before officers arrived, but based on what witnesses said, they were able to identify most of the suspects the next day, Lucas said. Five were arrested Sept. 18 and two others were arrested a few days later.

The six men in custody are: Dwight Lamar Henderson Jr., 18; Tyshawn Antonio Pitts, 17; Miles Julian Griggs, 19; Tahmir Foendoe, 18; Steve Morris, 19; and Kaweem Odal Thomas Jr., 17, Lucas confirmed.

The Conyers men are being charged as adults and face street gang charges, Lucas said. Thomas also faces a probation violation charge.

The 16-year-old girl, who has not been named, is being charged as a juvenile. She faces several charges, including street gang activity and possession of a firearm by a minor, Lucas said.

Lucas said she couldn’t confirm who fired shots, but at least four rounds were fired and the firearm was found in the 16-year-old’s possession by officers.

None of the suspects were injured aside from some scrapes and bruises from the altercation before the gunfire, Lucas said.

She said the two street gangs are the “Grape Street Crips” and the “Plug Family for Life,” and police haven’t identified which suspects are in each gang.

Anyone with information on the incident or about Crutchfield’s location is asked to contact Conyers police at 770-483-6600.
