Police are looking for a man they believe fired shots at a residence directly behind a Univeristy of Georgia campus Wednesday, officials said.
Kristopher Ellison, 25, of Athens, ran on foot from the Oglethorpe Avenue area, after Athens-Clarke County police responded to a call about an armed robbery, police said.
Shots were fired at a residence directly behind the UGA Health Sciences campus, authorities said, but officials chose not to lock the campus down because the suspect left the area.
University spokesman Bob Taylor said officials “have no reason to believe that there is any continued safety concern for individuals present on the Health Sciences Campus.”
Ellison, who was wearing dark blue shorts and a black shirt, was last seen running west away from the Health Science Campus toward Hawthorne Avenue, police said.
Police ask anyone who sees Ellison or knows his current whereabouts to call 911.
He should be considered armed and dangerous.
