Atlanta police say a man who was seen at an Atlanta strip mall the night before a model was fatally shot resembles a man seen running away after the July 1 shooting.

Jokisha "Kisha" Brown of Duluth was in her Mercedes SUV at a strip mall on Cheshire Bridge Road when she was shot multiple times through the front passenger-side window. Brown, an actress and model, would have turned 36 the following day, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Police released photos Thursday of a man seen in the area the night Brown was shot, apologizing for the poor quality of the images.

“He was seen running away from the location immediately after the shooting,” Atlanta police spokesman Maj. Adam Lee said Thursday.

Investigators believe Brown’s killer targeted her and this man, though not a formal suspect, is a person of interest because he was seen the night prior to the shooting and again afterward.

Lee described the shooting as a “very vicious murder, homicide” and said Brown was not robbed.

“We believe (Brown) was the intended target,” Lee said. “Whoever did this meant to kill her. It looks like a hit.”
