A Texas man swore at and punched a police officer on the side of a highway near a shopping mall on Black Friday, according to an arrest affidavit.

Southern Longoria, 23, was charged with attempted assault on a peace officer, a felony punishable by up to two years in jail, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

Police were assisting at a collision scene where there was a heavy amount of traffic created by Black Friday shoppers exiting the mall, the affidavit said.

Police noticed a disabled vehicle blocking traffic in the middle lane and wanted to push it out of the way with their patrol vehicle, but they noticed two men were standing in the way, the affidavit said.

A police officer asked them to move, and one man complied. However, Longoria refused, the document said, and when the officer asked Longoria again, he loudly yelled, “(Expletive) you!”

The officer asked Longoria what his problem was, to which he responded by yelling and charging at the officer, according to the affidavit.

Longoria appeared to be trying to punch the officer or push him into traffic and flailed his arms as he charged, the document said. It said he aimed to hit the officer in the face but missed and punched him in the chest. The officer was not harmed, the affidavit said.

The officer then got Longoria on the ground while another officer sat on his feet, as Longoria tried to kick the first officer and yelled many profanities, according to the affidavit.

Longoria was being held at the Travis County jail with bail set at $10,000, the American-Statesman reported.
