The man found dead Friday in south Fulton County was the victim of a shooting homicide, authorities said.
A passer-by driving past the intersection of Butner and Aldredge roads discovered 32-year-old Nicholas Grant, of College Park, lying unresponsive in the lot alongside the roadway, police said.
Police said his death was likely the result of foul play, and Fulton County Medical Examiner’s officials confirmed, saying Grant died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities said several drivers possibly passed Grant, before someone noticed his body lying in the tall grass late Friday morning and called police.
Police detectives on Friday questioned residents in nearby homes in the hopes of finding possible witnesses, but weren’t able to determine a motive.
“We know it’s a homicide, but right now they’re still putting all of the pieces together,” police spokesman Sgt. Scott McBride told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution late Monday.
The investigation continues.
