A South Florida man is being sought by police after officers said he doused his father with gasoline and set him on fire.
Tabias Rollins, 38, is being sought by the Homestead Police Department after officers said he poured gasoline on his 64-year-old father on Saturday morning following an argument, Local 10 reports. The home was engulfed in flames and is "a total loss," police said.
According to Rollins' sister, Canitra, their father was arguing with Rollins when the incident occurred. "My mom was beside him and my dad was wide awake," she told CBS Miami. "My dad dared him he (wouldn't) pour the gas. He poured the gasoline on him and tried to light him on fire."
When officers arrived, Rollins had already left the scene. He drove off in a white 2000 Cadillac DeVille with a black top, according to police. Rollins’ father was airlifted to the hospital and is listed as in critical condition, Local 10 reports.
A neighbor told CBS Miami the 68-year-old man was “very kind and always helping others” and said Rollins was “always causing problems." Det. Fernando Morales said Rollins “does have a past history” with police.
