A 25-year-old man accused of assaulting a 3-month-old was jailed about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Gordon County, where he will await a decision about bond, officials say.

George Edward Daniel III faces aggravated battery and felony cruelty to children charges in connection with the Nov. 27 assault, Police Chief Garry Moss told the Calhoun Times.

The newspaper reported the infant’s injuries were so extensive that medical officials at Gordon Hospital had the infant flown to T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Lt. Tony Pyle told the paper that the infant is now home and “doing fine.”
