A Fayette County man was arrested after allegedly driving drunk, punching a bar customer in the face, leaving a restaurant without paying his tab and then challenging two officers to a fight that he lost, authorities said.

Brandon Ferguson, 29, of Fayetteville, faces a host of charges after the Jan. 29 string of incidents, Peachtree City police spokesman Sgt. Chris Hyatt confirmed to AJC.com.

At 1:37 a.m., officers responded to a bar on Ga. 54, where Ferguson struck a man in the face, Hyatt said. He had left the area by the time police arrived.

Officers later spotted Ferguson’s pickup truck at a restaurant, where he did not pay for his meal, Hyatt said. The officers confronted Ferguson in his truck before he could drive away.

They told him to get out of the vehicle, to which Ferguson responded by saying that they’d have to fight him, Hyatt said. He allegedly fought with officers before he was subdued and taken into custody.

He was taken to Piedmont Fayette Hospital due to his intoxication level before being booked into the county’s jail, Hyatt added.

He was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, simple battery against police, theft of services, battery, simply battery, terroristic threats and two counts of obstruction.

He has since been released from the county’s jail on a $37,690 bond, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said.
