Smash-and-grab robbers hit a Fayetteville jewelry store Thursday, but suspects were quickly captured, police said.

Three men walked into Kay Jewelers at 115 Pavilion Parkway with a hammer, shattered a display case and grabbed several pieces of jewelry, Fayetteville police Lt. Mike Whitlow said. Witnesses reported to 911 that the men fled in a Ford Fusion driven by a getaway driver.

A Fayetteville patrol officer spotted a car matching that description and along with back-up units stopped it. Whitlow said police “obtained evidence from the robbery inside the vehicle.”

Police filed robbery and other charges against Christian Wright, 23 of Doraville; Clarence Dow-Owens, 18, of Riverdale; Quintaveus Samples, 17, of Riverdale; and Legend Bridges, 19, of College Park.
