Augusta police have arrested two women accused of beating a third woman so badly she could lose sight in her eye.

Hollie Carter and Jordie Holt, both 21, were arrested Tuesday on charges of aggravated battery in connection with a fight that occurred earlier this month outside a busy nightclub.

Brittany Stevens, 24, said the pair approached her outside The Scene in downtown Augusta and confronted her about an ex-boyfriend, authorities said. Stevens told police she fled to an alley, but didn't realize it was a dead end. There, she was allegedly jumped by Carter and Holt.

But the two women facing charges gave a different account, according to Augusta news station WRDW. They said Stevens pulled down Carter's shirt, and that they shoved her so she would stop.

Stevens’ mother told the news station her daughter’s orbital bone was shattered and that doctors had to install a titanium plate on her skull.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is investigating surveillance footage from nearby businesses.

Michael Gordon, 40, of Hephzibah, has been arrested and accused of lying to an investigator about what happened. He allegedly told investigators he saw a black man hit Stevens with his knee, according to the Augusta Chronicle. He was arrested Wednesday and remains in jail.

As of Wednesday, both Carter and Holt remained in the Richmond County jail, records show.
