A police helicopter was called to assist in the search for a person believed atop the roof of a gun store Thursday evening.
Officers responded to a shopping center at 1201 S. Interstate 35 shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, after a report of footsteps and banging noises heard by a person in the shopping center.
As business continued as usual along the south side of the two-story shopping center, anchored by a Big Lots retail store, police focused on its northwest corner, occupied by an Austin Gun Liquidators store.
An Austin Police helicopter circled low overhead several times around 7:15 p.m. Officers cleared the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m. A police spokesperson said the incident appeared to be a false alarm.
