The funeral for Sam Poss, the missing Perry teen who was later found dead, took place 4 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Perry, the Macon Telegraph reported.
Poss, a 2016 Perry High School graduate, was reported missing early Oct. 15. He was thought to be walking home from a friend’s house along a wooded trail. Dakota White, 17,was that friend.
Poss was found dead four days later.
White and Brandon Warren, 18, both of Houston County, were later charged with murder.
A Facebook post from September 2015 that police called disturbing was linked to White: “I wouldn’t mind taking a knife, shoving it into someones throat and just watch them choke on their own blood until they die,” the paper reported.

The obituary for Poss describes him as a “happy-go-lucky kid” with a “heart for animals.” Music, gaming and tinkering with computers were the things he enjoyed most. He played percussion in the Perry High School band and taught himself to play piano.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Sam Poss Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will benefit a percussionist student each year.
