A pedestrian was killed early Friday in a hit-and-run, Decatur police said.

The deadly accident happened about 3:30 a.m. in the 300 block of East College Avenue, Lt. Jennifer Ross said in a statement.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Ross said. His name was not released.

It is not clear what type of vehicle investigators are seeking in connection with the incident.

The Georgia State Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
