Paulding County man arrested six months after stepson’s death

Authorities arrested a stepfather accused of killing a 5-year-old boy in Paulding County.

Charles Edward Smith, 31, faces murder and first-degree cruelty to children six months after the boy’s death, Channel 2 Action News reported. The child died Jan. 9.

Details on what led to the death were not release, but Paulding deputies said details from the medical examiner’s report led them to make an arrest, Channel 2 reported.

Smith is being held in the Paulding County jail without bond.
