Money laundering? Well, two visitors to a Gwinnett apartment laundry room recently got plenty of change — illegally, police said.

They took about $1,500 in quarters from dryers at the Legacy Commons Apartment Complex in Tucker last month, Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera said. For those who were wondering, that’s about 75 pounds worth of quarters.

About 6 a.m. March 23, a video camera captured a man wearing all black and a woman with a Bluetooth earbud in her left ear break into coin boxes using a crowbar.

“Within about five minutes, the [alleged thieves] are seen leaving,” Pihera said.

Police said the man is between 6-foot-3 and 6-foot 5 and 200 and 210 pounds. He has a mustache. The woman may walk with a slight limp, police said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also remain anonymous — and be eligible for rewards up to $2,000 — by contacting Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS or crimestoppersatlanta.org.
