The 24-year-old brother of a 10-year-old boy who was shot in the head Monday at a DeKalb County apartment has been charged in the incident.
Tyderris Cash has been charged with reckless conduct, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and second-degree cruelty to children, DeKalb County Police Capt. Steve Fore said in an email Tuesday.
Cash’s brother, DeShawn Beddles was taken to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, where he remained in critical condition Tuesday, Fore said.
According to the captain, officers went to the Windward Forest apartment complex on Embarcadero Boulevard at about 1 p.m. Monday and found Beddles wounded. A 7-year-old relative was the only other person at home with Beddles and Cash when the shooting occurred, Fore said.
“Detectives investigating the incident determined Cash was handling the gun when the weapon was discharged striking Beddles in the head,” Fore said.
A cousin, Tramaine Cash, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Beddles normally lives with his grandmother but was visiting his mother for the summer.
