A motorcyclist faces aggravated assault and traffic charges after authorities say he opened fire on a driver while they were on I-85 North in Gwinnett County, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Saquon Getridge, 22, of Norcross, also faces hit-and-run and reckless conduct charges in the July 3 shooting, according to Gwinnett County jail records. Getridge was also charged for not having a helmet and  having an improper license.

The victim told Channel 2 he was driving on Jimmy Carter Boulevard when Getridge stopped just short of a red light. The man admitted his Dodge Charger was pretty close on Getridge’s motorcycle, but didn’t think anything of it.

The driver continued onto I-85 North and said shortly after he heard Getridge’s motorcycle engine revving, according to Channel 2.

“I see a red laser in my mirror, it hit me in my eyes,” the driver, who did not want to be identified, told Channel 2. “So, I told my mom ‘he has a laser, he has a gun, he has something in his hands.’”

Police said the two reached Beaver Ruin Road, where the driver swerved at Getridge, Channel 2 reported. Getridge allegedly fired three shots, two of which landed in the victim’s car. It is not clear where the third bullet landed.

The driver followed Getridge onto Pleasant Hill Road, where Getridge lost control of the motorcycle and was hit by the victim’s car, according to Channel 2.

Police said Getridge then ran across a cemetery to escape, but later was arrested by police.

Getridge is out of jail on a $18,448 bond.
