A Cobb County mother is facing multiple charges after her 11-year-old son was found safe following a Mattie’s Call search, according to Smyrna police.

Jessica Prowse, 30, was arrested Saturday and charged with one count of felony false statements, one count of cruelty to children in the first degree and two counts of reckless conduct.

Investigators say she repeatedly punched her son in the face and lied to police about her son while he was missing, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Davion Prowse left his Smyrna home Saturday “to seek safety from the abuse,” the news station reported. He was found hours later at his father’s home in Marietta.

Jessica Prowse originally told police her son went missing after a dispute between the two, but authorities later determined that to be false.

A Mattie’s Call, an emergency missing alert system for the disabled and elderly, was issued for the boy, who is a type 1 diabetic.

The boy told police his mother drove on the wrong side of the road with him and another child in the car after using drugs and drinking alcohol, Channel 2 reported.

She is out on a $20,000 bond.
