Two roommates at a Tucker-area home told police they were locked in a bathroom, beaten with a bat and pistol-whipped when a group of men broke in early Tuesday morning.
The men, who were wearing all black and speaking in Spanish, announced their arrival just before 3 a.m. as “police, police, police,” according to a DeKalb County police report obtained Wednesday by AJC.com. They entered the home in the 4300 block of Chamblee Tucker Road through a back door.

The commotion woke up the two residents, and each came to their bedroom doors only to be confronted with guns and dragged into a bathroom.
With the help of a translator, one of the victims told Channel 2 Action News he and his roommate were naked when the men began kicking and beating them with their handguns. He asked not to be identified.
The armed men demanded cash as they struck them over and over, while more men ransacked the rest of the house, according to the report. One victim was hit in the knee and the side with a baseball bat, he told police.
They didn’t know how many men attacked them, maybe four to six, they told police. Some were wearing masks, and they did not get a good look at the others because they were forced to keep their heads down.
At one point, the roommates were shuffled to another bathroom on the other side of the house. That’s when one of them decided to make his escape.
The man told police he took an opportunity to run out of the bathroom and jump out a window, and the intruders fired shots after him, missing him. While he ran to a nearby gas station to call for help, his roommate later told investigators he assumed his friend was dead.

The intruders ran out a short time later and were gone by the time DeKalb police arrived, according to the report.
Both of the victims were treated for cuts and scrapes, and one was taken to an area hospital for stitches. A cellphone, a laptop and $700 cash were reported stolen from the home.
The violent incident is still under investigation. Police have not released any information on suspects or a motive behind the home invasion.
