An alleged serial burglar, who led Fayette County authorities on a high-speed chase through three counties, was caught sneaking into a former Marine’s home last week, Clayton County officials said in a news release.

Christopher Belgrave held Joseph Skinner at gunpoint until officers arrived.

Skinner was arrested happened last week following a chase in Fayette and Henry counties that ended in Lovejoy, officials said.

Skinner drove behind Belgraves’s home and hid in his garage, scaring the man’s wife as she walked to her car, Clayton County authorities said. Skinner followed the woman as she ran back inside her home, screaming her husband’s name.

But to his surprise, Belgrave opened the door and aimed a gun directly at Skinner, who was turned over to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Belgrave was honored by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office for his heroism.
