A Marietta paraprofessional faces a simple battery charge after allegedly slapping a 6-year-old boy who ran from her classroom, arrest warrants show.

Aunya Caprice Wilson, a former paraprofessional at A.L. Burruss Elementary, is accused of striking the child Feb. 11, police said.

A warrant has been issued for Wilson’s arrest, but as of Friday she had not been booked into the Cobb County Jail.

According to the warrant, Wilson chased after the 6-year-old and caught up to him. At that point, the child hit Wilson, who allegedly slapped the student back.

The incident was witnessed by at least one other person, and the child’s mother told police she wanted the case prosecuted, authorities said.

A spokeswoman for Marietta City Schools said Wilson is no longer employed by the district. She started working at the school in July 2019.
