A Marietta bar that has been the scene of numerous shootings and other crimes in recent years has been shut down by city officials.

"Based on a number of criminal incidents that have occurred in and around Milo's Bar and Grill, the City of Marietta will not renew Milo's business license," Marietta police Det. Chris Lindsey said Tuesday in an emailed statement.

Lindsey said the bar's business license expired Monday, "and a mounting number of serious incidents prompted the Marietta Police Department to recommend the city not renew their business license."

According to Lindsey, officers have responded to at least 49 incidents at the Garrison Road bar since February 2011. Among those incidents were seven larcenies, two car thefts and 14 incidents of violence, including the 2013 fatal shooting of Tekilum Terrell and a gun battle in the parking lot last month that police said involved multiple people, Lindsey said.

"A 'cease and desist' notification has been sent to Quantria Barnes, the most recent hold of the business license, advising all activity at the business must be concluded as of midnight on March 31," Lindsey said.
