A man suspected of raping a 12-year-old girl on three separate occasions in southwest Atlanta in November is in custody, police said.

Shelton Dantley Brown, 28, turned himself in to the Fulton County jail Thursday, Atlanta police spokeswoman Lisa Bender said.

Brown is charged with rape, according to jail records.

No other details about Brown’s surrender were released.

The girl told her grandmother, who took her for a forensic exam at a nearby hospital in January, according to a police report.

A social worker from the Division of Family and Children Services spoke with the girl, who shared the exact dates of the alleged attacks and identified Brown.
