A roughly two-hour SWAT standoff with a man wanted on burglary and theft charges prompted the evacuation of a DeKalb County neighborhood Wednesday.

Another man who is believed to have worked with the suspect is still on the loose and considered “armed and dangerous,” Conyers police told Channel 2 Action News.

The incident started when police attempted to serve an arrest warrant to David Olson, 26, of Decatur, at a home in the area of Muirfield Drive and Muirfield Run.

He “came to the door and pointed a gun at one of the Conyers officers,” DeKalb police Maj. Stephen Fore said. A DeKalb SWAT team was called in to assist.

“Several surrounding neighbors were evacuated before the occupants of the home came out and surrendered,” Fore said.

Olson faces charges in an alleged burglary in Rockdale County and four smash-and-grab burglaries and an ATM theft in Conyers, Channel 2 reported.

Law enforcement agencies in multiple jurisdictions are checking to see if Olson and alleged accomplice Jarvis McElroy may have been involved in other crimes.

Police described McElroy, 33, of Atlanta, as 6 feet, 9 inches tall. A $2,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to McElroy’s arrest.
