Dunwoody police are trying to find a man they said robbed a woman at an apartment complex and pistol-whipped her.

The attack happened about 2 a.m. Tuesday at the Peachtree Place North Apartments off Peachtree Place Parkway, police spokesman Sgt. Robert Parsons said in a news release.

The woman told police she was about to go into her apartment when a man approached her.

The man pointed a handgun and demanded her money, Parsons said.

“I was like, ‘I don’t have any money,’ and that’s when he put the gun to my face,” the woman, who did not want to be identified, told Channel 2 Action News. “He hit me in the head.”

The woman told the news station her mother opened the apartment door and the man pointed the gun at her. She said the man tried to go inside the house, but her mother prevented him from getting in.

“She put her hand on the wall and her leg on the door and she managed to push the door on his hand,” she said.

The man then ran away.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Parsons. Police are still trying to find the man, who was last seen wearing a gray hoodie.
