A man was sentenced to life in prison plus an additional 40 years after prosecutors said he raped a homeless woman at knifepoint and sold her for sex.
Louis Allen of Lithia Springs was convicted of rape, aggravated sodomy and trafficking a person for sexual servitude. His lofty sentence was handed down in a Fulton County Superior courtroom Friday, according to District Attorney Paul L. Howard Jr.
Howard said the woman met Allen, 54, in May last year. She told the man that she was homeless and desperately needed a place to stay because she had nowhere else to go.
Allen told the woman he would help her, Howard said. He told her he would let her live with him in a hotel room he rented.
When Allen picked the woman up and took her to the hotel, there were other women inside, Howard said.
The woman soon learned that Allen was arranging for a number of women to have sex with men in exchange for money.
Howard said Allen created social media pages for the women on websites like Tagged, Badoo and Scout to solicit sex. He said Allen sold drugs and gave the woman narcotics to “keep her under his control.”
When his drug dealing business stopped being profitable, the environment changed, Howard said.
The woman said Allen moved her between several different hotels while she was with him. When the other women left, Allen started selling her for sex.
The woman told Allen she didn’t want to sell her body, prosecutors said. That’s when Allen became physically abusive to her.
“The victim repeatedly attempted to leave the defendant, but he always found her and said she owed him money,” Howard said. At one point, the woman said Allen punched her in the face because he felt disrespected.
In June 2018, the woman tried to run away from Allen again, Howard said. She hid at a home in Atlanta, but Allen found her. This time, he was accompanied by someone who had a visible handgun, Howard said.
Allen told the woman to get in his car and drove her to an apartment complex near Troy Street in Atlanta, Howard said. When they arrived, Allen told the woman to go inside and shower. The woman went into the apartment but refused to shower, Howard said.
“At that point, Allen angrily led her out of the apartment at knifepoint and into his vehicle where he proceeded to force her to perform oral sex upon him,” he said.
The woman tried to escape, but Allen grabbed her by the shirt and threatened her with the knife again, Howard said.
“(Allen) told the victim to roll over upon her side,” Howard said. “Allen forced her to remove her pants and underwear and raped the victim. During the entire incident, the victim said ‘no’ and asked Allen: ‘Would you want someone to do this to your daughter?”
Allen told her that having sex with him would allow her to pay off some of her debt, Howard said. When he finished raping her, Allen told the woman to get out of the car and “make him some more money,” Howard said.
The woman immediately called police, and Allen was arrested on June 24, 2018.
Prosecutors said Allen has four prior felony convictions and was previously convicted three times in Florida for carrying a concealed weapon and cocaine possession. He also has a federal conspiracy conviction, Howard said.
Allen is being held in the Fulton County jail.
