A man who says he was at a fatal shooting early Saturday on Edgewood Avenue has turned himself in to Atlanta police, but he did not implicate himself, a spokesman said Thursday.

The man, who is in his 20s, has not been questioned by police, Maj. Adam Lee III said. He was with his attorney when he turned himself in Wednesday.

Police say the man may be involved in some other crimes, and identifying him could hurt the investigation. However, Lee said the man’s “image is out there.”

Police had distributed surveillance photos after the shooting.

Mitchell Mormon Jr. and a woman companion were shot, and Mormon later died at Grady Memorial Hospital. The 32-year-old father of three was celebrating a new job, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Lee also said a dispute at the shooting had “nothing to do with any political discussions.”
