A man who collapsed in the middle of a busy Marietta road and was run over by two vehicles remains in critical condition, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Juan Ues, 32, was hit by two cars in the 700 block of Franklin Gateway on Oct. 18. He remained in the hospital Thursday with several broken ribs, a cracked pelvis and severe brain bleeding, Marietta police told Channel 2.

Ues’ younger brother, Jose, spoke to the news station through an interpreter. He said he’s afraid his brother might not survive.

“(Jose Ues is) afraid because he doesn’t have money,” the translator said. “He’s afraid because he doesn’t want to lose his brother.”

Marietta police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy told AJC.com that it remains unknown why Ues collapsed in the road. He was mostly in the roadway except for his feet, which remained just off the road, McPhilamy said.

“We don’t think the two (drivers) realized they even hit him,” McPhilamy said.

Police are still searching for the two drivers, but McPhilamy said he doesn’t expect charges to be filed against them unless it’s determined this incident was premeditated.

The only description of the vehicles the witness saw was that one car was orange and the other was silver, the news station reported.
