A man is in critical condition after Atlanta police found him lying in the middle of the street with several gunshot wounds early Friday.
Officers responded to the scene on Whitefoord Avenue about 3 a.m., police spokesman Officer Steve Avery told AJC.com. They saw the wounded man next to a Jeep Cherokee that investigators learned was stolen.
“Property and tools in the Jeep indicate the victim may have been breaking into cars in the area when he (was) confronted by someone,” Avery said. “The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition and the investigation is continuing.”
The incident occurred just hours after police responded to a shooting in northwest Atlanta that left a man dead and a bystander injured on Proctor Street, police said.
