An arrest has been made in Kennesaw in connection with a shooting death Monday in Newton County.

The U.S. Marshals Task Force and Newton County sheriff’s investigators apprehended the suspect without incident in Cobb County, Deputy LaTavia Washington said.

No other details were released.

A man was found shot and killed after reporting a burglary in progress at his home, authorities said.

Wintez Moody, 22, called 911 just after 9 p.m. to report someone was trying to break into his home on Brookwood Drive near Covington. Newton County deputies responded, Washington earlier told AJC.com.

“When they arrived and they cleared the house, they found a black male deceased in the house,” she said.

The victim was found with gunshot wounds, Washington confirmed. He was later identified as Moody.

The case is still active, she said.
