Atlanta police are investigating a shooting Sunday afternoon that left a 37-year-old man dead.

The shooting happened just before 3 p.m. in the 400 block of Fairburn Road in southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said investigators believe the victim and suspect got into an argument earlier in the day, and “at some point later, the suspect returned to the location and retrieved a shotgun and fired at the victim one time, striking him in the back.”

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office Monday identified the victim as Geoffrey Q. Watson-McCoy of Atlanta.

The suspect fled on foot, and remains at large, Jones said.
