Man captured after Meriwether County chase ends in Pike County crash

A man is in jail after authorities said he led deputies from multiple counties on a car chase and then took off running.
Michael Chase Moore, 22, was found hiding in a draining ditch after a multi-agency search for him, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The incident started as a chase in Meriwether County Wednesday night, but soon crossed the county line into Pike, the sheriff’s office said. Pike deputies joined in the pursuit in the area of River Road, officials said.
“Due to the recklessness of the driver, and his disregard for the safety of citizens, several PIT maneuvers were attempted on the vehicle,” the sheriff’s office said.
