A man was convicted of raping a 15-year-old after she told police he had taken advantage of her for more than seven years.
Benjamin Daniels was also convicted of aggravated child molestation and child molestation Tuesday, according to Gwinnett County Chief Assistant District Attorney Dan Mayfield.
The conviction stems from an incident Sept. 19, 2014.
He has already served prison time for voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a sawed-off shotgun in Fulton County in 1998, Mayfield said.
Daniels denied the rape during trial and said he had rejected the victim’s sexual advances that day, Mayfield said.
The man also said he believed Georgia’s legal age of consent for sexual conduct should be lowered from 16 to 14 years old, according to Mayfield.
Daniels is scheduled for sentencing Aug. 1.
