A man was sentenced to life in prison without parole Wednesday in Fulton County Superior Court for the 2012 murder of a co-worker in Fairburn.

Jerome Foster, 57, was convicted of murder, felony murder and other charges in connection with the slaying of Kenneth Scott Jr. in Fairburn, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said in a media release.

Scott’s body was found with a belt tied around his neck like a noose, less than five miles from his place of employment.

Foster was immediately suspected, because phone records indicated that he was one of the last people to call the victim, according to the release. During questioning, Foster said that he and another man, Andrew Bell, had planned to rob Scott. The victim had just received his monthly paycheck.

Foster admitted to participating in the robbery of nearly $1,000, but said Bell was responsible for the murder. Bell is to be tried in Fulton County later this year.
