DeKalb County authorities have arrested a man they say shot and killed another man at an apartment complex in the Belvedere Park neighborhood.

Joe Eakmond Morris, 37, of Decatur, was arrested on a felony murder charge, according to the DeKalb sheriff’s office.

The charge stems from the shooting death of Rico Jabar King, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cynthia Williams said.

King, 26, was shot multiple times at the complex on Belvedere Lane on June 4, according to the DeKalb medical examiner. He was dead at the scene when officers arrived about 10:15 p.m., AJC.com previously reported.

Witnesses told officers the victim was arguing with someone before the shooting, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“I heard about three to five gunshots,” witness Shayne Adams told the news station. “I looked over, saw a bunch of pandemonium.”

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Morris the day after the shooting, Williams said. Deputies found him at a hotel in Decatur and he was “apprehended and transported to the DeKalb County Jail without incident,” Williams said.
