A man sits behind bars after allegedly shooting an employee of a Newnan bar.

Kevintez Derelle Mathewis, 27, was arrested Saturday shortly after 1 a.m. at Fat Boys Bar and Grill and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, according to an incident report. He’s in the Coweta County jail without bond and is awaiting a Dec. 25 court date.

Mathewis allegedly shot an employee after he was kicked out of the bar for agitating customers, police confirmed. Authorities quickly arrived and used a K-9 to arrest Mathewis.

The employee, who was shot in the chest, stomach, arm and thigh, is in the hospital recovering from his injuries.
