The man accused of stabbing and killing a woman at a child’s birthday party in Roswell was arrested Thursday, police confirmed.

Pedro Navarro-Zelaya, 44, of LaGrange, faces a murder charge in connection with the death of Margarita Cabrera-Maldonado, 42, of Roswell, police said in a news release. Investigators said the two “were in a relationship that ended approximately one year ago.”

The incident happened at Dalia’s Events off Alpharetta Highway about 8 p.m. Saturday, Roswell police previously told AJC.com.

Navarro-Zelaya allegedly stabbed the woman several times before stabbing himself in the chest. Cabrera-Maldonado was taken to WellStar North Fulton Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

He was also taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, police said. He remained there in police custody until being booked in the Fulton County jail Thursday.

Navarro-Zelaya remains in jail without bond, records show.
