A Statesboro man convicted of a July 2017 armed robbery will spend 20 years in prison, the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Bradley Houston, 29, admitted his guilt during his sentencing hearing Wednesday after he was convicted during a two-day trial.
In 2017, a woman reported she was sitting in her car in the parking lot of her apartment complex when Houston approached and told her to move over to the passenger seat, a news release said. He pulled out a pistol and “racked” the slide before demanding money from her, prosecutors said.
The victim, a college student at the time, gave “everything she had ... in fear for her life,” the release said.
Houston threatened to run her over with the car if she tried to run away.
In addition to armed robbery, he was convicted of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, financial transaction card theft, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.
He said in court that he committed the robbery because he was addicted to drugs.
Houston was sentenced to 28 years, with two decades behind bars and the remaining eight on probation, prosecutors said.
