A traffic stop in Lamar County led to more than 175 pounds of methamphetamine being seized, stopping over $4 million worth of drugs from hitting the streets, authorities said.

Miguel Angel Sanchez Alvarez, 22, of Ceres, California, faces a count of trafficking meth after being arrested during the Thursday traffic stop, the Lamar County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post. It's unclear what led to the traffic stop or on which road it took place.

About 80 kilograms, or more than 175 pounds, of methamphetamine was found during a traffic stop, authorities said.

A K-9 tipped off deputies to the 80 kilograms of meth inside Sanchez Alvarez’s car, the post said. No other details about the bust have been provided.

He remains in the Lamar County Jail in Barnesville without bond, as of Wednesday afternoon.

Barnesville, the county seat of Lamar County, is about 60 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta and about 40 miles northwest of Macon.
