Authorities in Texas arrested a man Wednesday after he allegedly shot and killed his 3-year-old stepson when the boy refused to stop jumping on a bed.

Sheriff's deputies arrested 18-year-old George Coty Wayman, of Bellevue, on Wednesday. He faces charges of capital murder of a person under 10 years of age and criminal trespass.

An arrest affidavit obtained by KFDX showed authorities got a 911 call from a home in rural Clay County just before 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Wayman initially told authorities his stepson, identified as Dominic Tra'Juan Castro, shot himself, and witnesses backed up the story. According to KFDX, Wayman claimed the boy accidentally set off a gun that had been placed on a bed as he jumped on it.

Clay County Sheriff Kenny Lemons, however, said evidence at the scene didn't match the statements.

"Officials said witnesses finally revealed that George Coty Wayman pointed the gun at the boy and told him (that) if he didn't stop jumping on the bed he would shoot him, and he fired the gun and struck the boy in the back of the head," according to KFDX.

Records from Clay County Jail show a judge set Wayman's bond at $505,000 – $500,000 for the capital murder charge and $5,000 for the criminal trespass charge. He remained jailed Friday morning.
