There’s a development in a Macon french fry assault case.

A woman is facing charges in connection with an incident at a Wendy’s restaurant in Macon in February in which a customer said she was attacked over an order of french fries.

Denesha Lannett Cliett, 42, turned herself in last week at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, and was released on $1,850 bond, The Telegraph reported. Cliett was charged with battery and cruelty to children (third degree). She had been photographed by a surveillance camera inside a Wendy's restaurant on Zebulon Road, The Telegraph reported.

The victim, Elaine Modena, had said that a woman started hitting her after she had grabbed some french fries the woman had been waiting on, and left the store. Modena had gone inside the store after waiting for 10 minutes on fries at the drive-through.

Modena said as she left the store, the woman followed her to her car, and punched her window as she closed her car door. When Modena opened her car door, the woman “grabbed me by the hair and started hitting me in the face.”

Cliett said she has asked the Macon chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People about this case. The NAACP is working on Cliett’s behalf, The Telegraph reported.
