A juvenile has been charged in connection with a shooting at a Clayton County gas station that left a teen critically injured, police said Monday.

The suspect’s age and the charges against the child have not been released.

The shooting happened Thursday behind the Shell gas station at Thomas and Flint River roads in Jonesboro, according to a Clayton County police spokeswoman. The scene is near Pointe South Middle School, but a Clayton County School District spokeswoman said the incident was unrelated to the school.

According to a press release from the police department, detectives are continuing to look for another suspect who remains at large. Details about that person were not released.

The victim’s condition has improved. The teen, while still under observation at a local hospital, is now stable, police said.
