12-year-old girl shot at home while sleeping released from hospital

A 12-year-old girl hit in the leg when shots were fired into a home in south Fulton County has been released from the hospital.

The girl was asleep on the living room couch when the incident happened about 1 a.m. Thursday in the 6000 block of Connell Road, according to a Fulton County police incident report.

Her mother was asleep in a back bedroom when the shooting happened, police said. She woke up to about 20 gunshots coming from outside, the woman told police in the report.

When officers arrived, they found shell casings inside and outside the home. They were taken into evidence, police said.
