A police chase in southwest Atlanta ended with a DUI suspect in custody and multiple vehicles damaged, authorities said.

Just after 1 p.m. Monday, a state trooper tried to pull over a Dodge Challenger that was speeding on I-75 North at Cleveland Avenue, the Georgia State Patrol said. The driver did not pull over, and the trooper began to give chase.

The Challenger’s driver got off the interstate near Georgia State Stadium, and the chase ended in a crash on Edgewood Avenue, the GSP said. The Challenger hit the rear of a Volkswagen, which then hit a parked vehicle.

Jaseri Saeed Mullen, 23, of Seabrook, S.C., and Carolina Mosqueira Tamareo, 24, of Bluffton, S.C., got out of the Challenger and attempted to run away before being caught and arrested, the GSP said. Mullen is accused of being the driver.

Both were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital briefly before being taken to the Fulton County Jail.

Mullen was charged with DUI, four counts of hit-and-run, obstruction and multiple traffic citations, GSP said. He also has warrants from three other law enforcement agencies in Georgia and South Carolina. Tamareo was charged with obstruction.
