A Walton County sheriff’s deputy is being questioned in connection with a shooting that left a liquor store owner and two other people injured, DeKalb County police said Monday.

The deputy fired shots in the incident, but it is unclear what prompted the move, DeKalb police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said.

Few details have been released about how the shooting unfolded in the 1900 block of Wesley Chapel Road.

It started with an attempted robbery about midnight and ended with two people in custody, Campbell said. The two in custody were not injured.

The owner of US-1 Package and a 19-year-old are in critical condition, Campbell said. A 42-year-old bystander was shot in the foot but did not sustain serious injuries.

Those injured were taken to a local hospital.
