Police have identified a person of interest in the November 2018 shooting of a Union City man found dead feet from his apartment.

Investigators released a photo of a man wanted for questioning in the days following the Nov. 26, 2018, slaying of 30-year-old Christopher Kindle. At the time, the man was known only by his aliases.

Police on Monday announced they had identified the man as Malik Osiris Horton. Horton, 19, who also goes by the name Kenneth Horton, is “a subject of interest and not considered a suspect,” police said on Facebook.

Kindle, 30, was found dead when Union City officers arrived at the Shannon Lake Apartments on Buffington Road. He had been shot multiple times and was lying just outside the breezeway of the 1300 building, police said.

A neighbor, Shelly Darby, told Channel 2 Action News her mother heard two rounds of gunshots before a car peeled away from the complex.

Investigators have not released any information on a possible motive. Kindle, a father, mostly kept to himself, Darby said.

“He take(s) care of his kids,” she said. “He go(es) to work. He really don’t bother nobody, so I don’t know what he could’ve gotten into. Whatever it was, it was something serious.”

Anyone with information on Horton’s whereabouts or the investigation is asked to contact Detective Genevieve Nelson at 770-515-7830 or Lt. Cliff McClure at 770-515-7831. The public is urged to notify police immediately if they come in contact with him.
