Police are looking to speak with a person of interest in the shooting of a Union City man found dead just feet from his apartment Sunday.
Union City investigators need the public’s help to identify the man, who is known only by the aliases “Staxk” or “Zowe.” He is wanted for questioning in the death of Christopher Kindle.
Kindle, 30, was found dead when Union City officers arrived at the Shannon Lake Apartments on Buffington Road about 5:35 p.m. Sunday. He had been shot multiple times and was lying just outside the breezeway of the 1300 building, police said.
A neighbor, Shelly Darby, told Channel 2 Action News her mother heard gunshots before a car peeled away from the complex.
“She said she heard three shots at first, and then a pause,” Darby said. “Then she heard more shots and she just heard something screeching off. By the time she came to the door, the police were out here.”
A motive has not been determined. Neighbors told the news station that Kindle, a father, mostly kept to himself.
“He take(s) care of his kids,” Darby said. “He go(es) to work. He really don’t bother nobody, so I don’t know what he could’ve gotten into. Whatever it was, it was something serious.”
The person of interest was seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans at the time of the shooting, according to police. If he is spotted, investigators urge members of the public to call 911 instead of making contact with him.
Anyone with information about the man’s identity or his whereabouts is asked to call Det. Genevieve Nelson at 770-515-7835.
