The GBI has arrested a mother accused of agreeing to sign over her rights to her 10-month-old in exchange for a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to an agency spokeswoman.
“I can confirm the arrest” of Christina Queen, GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles told AJC.com. “There are no additional details to report at this time.”
The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office said she was charged with unlawful adoption.
In June, the agency arrested a former Division of Family and Children Services employee and her husband on felony charges in connection with the case. Rebecca McClain, 36, and William Ryan McClain, 44, both of Blue Ridge, are accused of "directly or indirectly holding out an inducement to a biological parent to part with his or her child," Miles said in a June 28 news release.

Rebecca McClain is a former DFCS employee in Union County, which is how she came to know the child, according to the agency. The 10-month-old had been in the care of the McClains for several weeks, and they were “interested in adopting the child,” Miles said.
A search warrant was executed at the McClains’ home off Laurel Crossing Road, which led to their arrest. They were booked into the Fannin County Jail. No details on the evidence collected was provided.
The baby was found in good condition and is in DFCS custody, according to the GBI.
On July, the McClains were released from jail on a $75,000 bond, the sheriff’s office said. Queen bonded out for the same amount Wednesday.
