A Jackson County man was arrested on child cruelty charges Friday, about two weeks after allegedly abusing his girlfriend’s 1-year-old son and breaking his leg.
Justin Michael Taylor, 24, turned himself into police after he was charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault and first-degree cruelty to children in connection with the June 29 incident, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.
Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum said the boy’s mother left her son with Taylor. Investigators said the child’s injuries were so severe that he had to be placed in a body cast from the waist down.
Taylor remains held at the Jackson County jail without bond, records show.
